Extroverts are often misunderstood. They are judged or labeled as show offs, attention seekers and told that their extroverted nature is due to insecurity and a need to be approved or accepted. While that might be true for some individuals, there’s more to an extrovert than meets the eye. An understanding of this personality type would help understand why they behave in the way they do.
I have spent years studying personality types including Extroverts and below are some insights
WHAT DRIVES THEM?
Extroverts love people. They are selfless and are always seeking to entertain others. Their people skills make them naturally sociable. Extroverts on Social Media are always sharing entertaining videos of themselves. Think about it. The world would be a boring place if there werent extroverts.
BORN THAT WAY
During one of our Raising Confident Girls hangouts, a guest speaker named Taiye Aluko shared that while growing up her twin Kehinde was the extrovert while she was the introvert and her mum would say, “Why can’t you be like your outgoing sister”. In her journey of life Taiye realized that she cant be like her twin because she wasnt born that way. Both Introverts and Extroverts have their own unique traits. Neither is better or worse. They just gain their energy from different sources.
WHO ARE EXTROVERTS
Extroverts are fun loving, free spirits and who’s energy comes from engaging and interacting with people. It doesn’t mean that they are the loudest in the room but it just means they have more energy around people. Some parents try and quieten down an extroverted child! Don’t! They were born that way. If you try to shut down them down, you will destroy that child’s self esteem.
Extroverts are here to stay and so are introverts. Both personalities are needed for balance in this world. The more we understand each other and are accepting of each other’s personalities types, the more the world will be a better place. Thank you for stopping by. So what about you? Are you an extrovert or introvert? Are you accepting of your personality type?
